The wet weather has begun to move in ahead of heavy downpours that are forecast for this weekend across Logan City and the Scenic Rim.

Showers and strong winds are likely to start Saturday and continue for two or three days.

Forecasters say it could lead to potential flash flooding in some local areas.

Sunday is forecast to be the wettest day with anywhere between 60mm and 100mm of rain likely to fall across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology also said that the forecast deluge could cause damaging beach erosion on the Gold Coast.
