Destructive hail, powerful winds and a tornado have battered the Darling Downs and forecasters predict the wild weather will continue for several days.
Parts of Toowoomba were drenched by 25 millimetres of rain in about an hour yesterday, while areas like Highfields and Cambooya were smashed with hailstones that turned neighbourhoods into wintery scenes within a matter of minutes.

The Bureau of Meteorology expects the severe weather system to lessen in intensity today but remain in the region for the rest of the week.
