The operations of Scenic Rim Regional Council have now been disrupted by the spread of COVID-19 amongst councillors and staff members.
Unvaccinated Councillor Jeff Mckinnon is in isolation at home after contracting the virus yesterday.
Mayor Greg Christensen says a number of other council staff have either tested positive or are a close contact of someone who has the infection.
“I have been advised by the executive team that we have a number of people who have COVID or are a close contact.”
“The executive has taken the prudent step of trying to encourage, where practical, people to work from home to mitigate the number of people gathering together in workplaces at the moment.”
“And we’re continuing like everyone to battle with the challenge of a depleted workforce in some areas which is impacting on our ability to deliver some services but we’re continuing to work through that in a structured way.”
“And I think the officers or the executive have been diligent in that focus.”
