Locals curb spending to afford winter energy bills

Logan and Scenic Rim households are being urged to shop around as a new survey suggests many are struggling to afford their winter energy bills.

The i-Link Research study, commissioned by comparison service iSelect, found more than 6 in 10 families will make at least one cutback to help pay for their next bill, with around 1 in 5 saying they’ll even cut back on groceries to pay for power.

Sophie Ryan, iSelect spokesperson, says the combination of general cost of living pressures, recent and upcoming power price rises, and increased energy usage during the colder months could result in a major financial hit for many households when they receive their next power bill.
