According to Logan City Councillor Laurie Koranski International Women’s Day is about ‘recognising women and the men who support them by celebrating our abilities, our determination, our courage, our successes, our compassion and our resilience’.
“I will be attending several events across the city including the Soroptimists International of Beenleigh’s breakfast, Logan Village Community Centre’s morning tea and catching up with friends at the Bethania Community Centre,” Cr Koranski said.
“For the most part, women in Australia today have equal access to education and employment and we have certainly demonstrated we have the capacity to bring about tremendous positive change in business, politics, sport, the arts, community and our own families.
“You only have to look across Logan to see how many incredible women are leading positive change in big and small ways each and every day.
Cr Koranski said the best advice she’d been give by another woman was: ‘Strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them’.
“Girl, you’ve got this! Step outside your comfort zone, meet new people and become something bigger than yourself,” she said.
“You will discover great rewards in being part of a strong female network.”
