Detectives from Logan District CIB have charged a 22-year-old Coomera man with arson following a six-month investigation into a suspicious fire at a Windaroo shopping centre on June 5, last year.
The man has been remanded in custody and the matter will be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The fire ripped through the Carl Heck Boulevard shopping centre during the night and a hairdressers, chemist and a bakery were lost in the blaze.
Firefighters were called to the shopping centre on Carl Heck Boulevard just after10.30pm but were unable to save those businesses.
Paramedics were also sent to the fire but there were no reports of injuries. It took firies almost three hours to extinguish the blaze as they battled a collapsing roof and walls.
The last fire at the shopping centre was more than two years ago.
