A man who was shot by police early Thursday morning on the Logan Motorway, on the outskirts of Logan City, has died.
It’s understood police officers who had responded to reports of a traffic hazard at Drewvale, just west of Berrinba, opened fire on the man who was allegedly armed with a knife and had threatened them.
Despite first aid treatment being given to the man, he passed away at the scene.
The man had reportedly been walking along the side of the eastbound lanes of the motorway just after 6am Thursday when the confrontation took place.
Police advise those lanes will remain closed while investigations continue into the incident.
The ethical standards command will investigate the incident.
